Homologating a non-EU car in Poland
Świadectwo indywidualnego dopuszczenia pojazdu
A vehicle imported from outside the EU that doesn't hold a type approval certificate needs a świadectwo indywidualnego dopuszczenia pojazdu (individual admission certificate). An accredited technical service inspects and tests the vehicle first, and the TDT director issues the certificate based on that service's report.
The process, step by step
- 1Documentation review
We check the vehicle's paperwork against what Polish/EU rules require and identify the gaps.
- 2Application to a technical service
The application for inspection is filed with a chosen jednostka techniczna (accredited technical service) before approaching the TDT.
- 3Technical inspection and testing
The technical service inspects and tests the vehicle and prepares its report.
- 4TDT certificate issued
Based on the technical service's report, the director of the TDT issues the individual admission certificate.
- 5Registration
With the certificate issued, the vehicle can be registered and plated.
Varies by technical service and vehicle. We give you a realistic estimate after reviewing your vehicle.
Cost depends on the technical service's inspection/testing fees plus any required modifications. We quote after reviewing your specific vehicle.
Frequently asked
The physical inspection and testing is done by an accredited jednostka techniczna (technical service), not the TDT directly. The TDT director issues the certificate based on that service's report, so choosing a competent technical service upfront matters.
Poland's system for vehicle and equipment homologation is governed by the Act of 14 April 2023 on vehicle homologation systems, which restructured how individual admission is processed. We stay current on the applicable rules as part of the process.
HomologateMyCar handles what happens once the car is in Europe. If you haven't sourced it yet, our sister company DriveSino exports vehicles from China to Poland and has a dedicated import guide for it.
