Homologating a non-EU car in Slovakia
Jednotlivé schválenie dovezeného vozidla
The operator of a vehicle imported individually from outside Slovakia must request either individual recognition of an existing EU type approval, or national individual approval, for the specific vehicle. The competent authority is the district office's road transport department, and the operator arranges and pays for the required tests at a technical inspection service.
The process, step by step
- 1Choosing the route
We determine whether individual recognition of EU type approval or national individual approval applies to your specific vehicle.
- 2Application via JISCD
The application is filed electronically through the Unified Information System in Road Transport (JISCD), with the correct administrative fee.
- 3Testing at a technical inspection service
At the operator's own expense, the vehicle undergoes the required tests and inspections at a technical inspection service.
- 4Modifications, if flagged
Any non-compliant points are corrected and the vehicle is re-presented.
- 5Approval and registration
Once the district office grants approval, the vehicle can be registered.
Varies by district office and vehicle. We give you a realistic estimate after reviewing your vehicle.
Cost includes the administrative fee, the technical inspection service's testing fees (paid by the operator), and any required modifications. We quote the full picture after reviewing your specific vehicle.
Frequently asked
Individual recognition of EU type approval applies when the vehicle already has a usable EU type approval to recognize; national individual approval is the route for a vehicle that doesn't, and needs Slovakia's own national review instead.
The operator of the individually imported vehicle arranges and pays for the required tests and inspections at a technical inspection service, at their own expense, as part of the application.
HomologateMyCar handles what happens once the car is in Europe. If you haven't sourced it yet, our sister company DriveSino exports vehicles from China to Slovakia and has a dedicated import guide for it.
