Homologating a non-EU car in Slovenia

A new or used vehicle imported from outside the EU or EEA without EU type approval needs a posamična odobritev (individual approval) in Slovenia: an inspection produces a technical report on compliance with the relevant homologation rules, which is sent to the AVP, the national approval authority, for its decision.
The process, step by step
- 1Documentation review
We check for an original Certificate of Conformity (CoC) from the country of origin, or confirmation of which directives the vehicle's components meet.
- 2Vehicle inspection
The vehicle is inspected against the relevant homologation requirements.
- 3Technical report
A technical report on the vehicle's compliance with applicable homologation regulations is prepared.
- 4AVP review
The Javna agencija RS za varnost prometa reviews the technical report and decides on compliance.
- 5Certificate and registration
Once approved, AVP issues the certificate of individual vehicle approval, needed for registration.
