Germany requires TÜV inspection within four weeks of import and often needs individual approval for a GCC-spec car with no EU equivalent; Spain and France run comparable but distinctly-worded processes.
What's different about a UAE & the Gulf car
Extra-powerful cooling, upgraded air filtration, and an adapted lighting package are standard on genuine GCC-spec vehicles, built for Gulf heat and dust rather than European climate and roads.
Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Ferrari, and Lamborghini vehicles sold new in the Gulf frequently already include E-approved lighting and seatbelts for Europe, since the manufacturer builds toward a shared global platform. A Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol in GCC spec has no such head start.
Germany applies roughly 10% duty plus 19% VAT, France roughly 10% duty plus 20% VAT, and Spain roughly 10% duty plus 21% VAT with an additional CO2-based registration tax of 0-14.75%. These are on top of, not instead of, the homologation process itself.
